Younger adults tend to prefer laptops over desktops, and they use their cell phones for various functions like internet, email, music, games, and video. Among American adults, cell phones are the most commonly owned device, especially for those under 65 years old. Taking pictures and text messaging are the two non-voice functions that are widely popular among all cell phone users. Desktop computers are most popular among adults aged 35-65, while Millennials are more likely to own a laptop than a desktop. Additionally, game consoles are more popular with adults aged 18-46, and e-book readers are least popular among adults aged 75 and older. Tablet computers, such as the iPad, are most popular among American adults aged 65 and younger. About 9% of adults do not own any of the devices surveyed, including 43% of adults aged 75 and older.
